(Synthetic) Pearls of Wisdom

We’ve all heard them, these timeless little gems of wit and wisdom passed down from one generation to the next. At first glance, they make a lot of sense. But real life isn’t always so black and white, and experience sometimes requires us to scribble a few notes in the margins. Here are some of my favorites:
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” …unless you (or they) are into the kinky stuff, then it’s probably not a good idea unless you ask first.
“No one is more interested in what you have to say than you are.” …especially when you’ve had too much to drink.
“You can’t have your cake and eat it, too.” …what else would you do with cake?
“Beauty is only skin deep.” …not true. True beauty is soul deep.
