Happy New Year!

January 1, 2020

? Irish blessing: “?? ??? ??? ????, ??? ???? ????? ???? ?????? ?? ????????? ??? ?? ?????????? ??? ????? ?? ????.”

It’s 2020. Can you believe it? We started a new century twenty years ago. How is that even possible when 1980 still seems like yesterday to me?

I, for one, am looking forward to the new year. The holidays are lovely, to be sure, but they can also be pretty rough. I was sick for most of December, so a lot of things simply didn’t get done. I didn’t decorate nearly as much as I usually do. Or cook all the traditional “Eve” meals and bake approximately 15 billion cookies. I didn’t even get all my shopping done, which led to a few “IOUs” handed out on Christmas morning and a tremendous sense of guilt on my part.

BUT… all my kids made it home this year and we spent the time together, and that’s what’s really important. In fact, it was pretty nice to have a holiday focused on simply being together and not on all the other stuff.

Now that December is officially behind us, it’s time to look forward again. I sincerely hope that the worst of your 2020 is better than the best of your 2019.
