Your Adventure Begins at Jakes Pub

The storm wasn’t in the forecast. Dark clouds roll across the sky as night begins to fall, the wind carrying a sharp bite that tugs at your coat. The rain starts suddenly, small drops quickly turning into a steady downpour. You glance around, searching for shelter, when you spot it.
A white brick building with green shutters and glowing brass carriage lights.
Jake’s Irish Pub.
A sense of anticipation zings through you. Something about this place feels… important, though you can’t say why. It calls to something deep inside you, and before you know it, your feet are carrying you closer. The warm glow of lights spills through the windows, accompanied by the faint hum of voices and laughter. You push open the double doors adorned with thick beveled glass and polished brass fixtures and step inside.
You pause at the entrance, letting your eyes adjust. The scent of lemon wood oil mingles with the faint aroma of aged whiskey. The pub radiates warmth, its eclectic mix of patrons—young and old, laughing and chatting—filling the space with comfort and small-town charm. You can feel it in your bones: this is the kind of place where stories are told, and memories are made.
As you stand there, taking it all in, a hum of awareness ghosts over your skin. You scan the room looking for the source, and that's when you see them.
Seven men are gathered near the bar, their collective presence magnetic. Some laugh, others argue over darts, but all carry an air of quiet strength—and something else. Possibility. Potential. Power?
You shove those thoughts aside, mentally filing them away for later consideration. Right now, all you can think is… wow.
Clearly, they’re related. Brothers, if you had to guess. They share similar large, muscular builds, blue-black hair, and vivid blue eyes.
One of the two big guys behind the bar notices you standing there. He turns your way, hitting you with a pair of amazing blue eyes. Outside, you remain calm, just another patron, but inside, your heart begins to beat faster.
Wiping his hands on the towel slung over his shoulder, he offers a friendly smile, but there’s no mistaking the intensity of that gaze. You have the feeling that in the span of a heartbeat, maybe two, he’s performed a complete assessment. You can’t help but wonder what he’s come up with.
"I'm Jake Callaghan,” he says, his voice deep and smooth. “Welcome to the best—and only—pub in town. You look like a woman who knows what she likes. What can I get for you?”
Cue the urge to fan yourself. Thankfully, your legs get with the program, drawing you closer to the bar. A mirrored wall is filled with shelves of liquor, but it’s the gleaming taps that get your attention. “A pint of whatever you have on draft is fine.”
Jake hits you with a panty-melting smile. “Coming right up."
Grabbing a frosty mug from somewhere under the bar, he pours a perfect draft. "So, what brings you to Pine Ridge?”
That is the question, isn’t it?
A prickle of awareness races down your spine as you feel their attention shift. One by one, the brothers’ vivid blue eyes settle on you, their curiosity palpable. Your heart skips a beat as you ponder the thoughts behind those handsome faces.
